Merced River, Yosemite Backcountry

Oil painting. 24” high x 18” wide.

Exhibited at Paso Robles Public Library, July and August 2023 (solo exhibit). Third place, Professional Oil Representational, California Mid-State Fair fine arts exhibit, 2010.

A study in restful solitude. The Merced River flows through a narrow chute below Merced Lake. Signs of the ferocity of spring runoff are clear, and the granite has a rough texture and a warm brown stain underfoot. Looking West toward the Valley just after sunset, the colors of the sky reflect off the polished granite slope in the distance.
